After so many changes, my fabric book is finally finished! Yipee!
Here is the complete book:
And the spine. If I had to do it over I would have had the strings end at the top instead of the middle.
And a close up of the embellishments I put on some of the pages. I forgot to photograph the others for some reason!
And a look at how the finished binding looks like inside the book.
I also filmed with the help of Dave, a video of this book. You can find it here: https://youtu.be/r5_iEenBWtA
Originally, I thought about adding binding on the spreads when I sewed them together, but I was happy with how they turned out. Hand stitching was the way to put the book together, and so much easier than trying to get the sewing machine to work with the signatures. I’m not sure I’d change anything. When I make another fabric book, it will be much easier since the decisions are now made. However, if I make another one using regular fabric, not denim, I would sew the two spreads right sides together, turn them out and sew around the outside. That would have been too difficult with the jeans fabric. Any questions or comments, I’d love to hear them.
This was a fun project, and it was such a great gift to give our new friends, Sharon and Steve.
